Summer means sun, air and water! You always want to crunch on something at the beach, because we spend a lot of energy swimming and playing in the water.
In order to stay in shape, not to be tempted by “honey baklava” and not to get poisoned by “second-fresh” fish, it is better to think ahead: what kind of dietary snack to take with you to the beach?
Water is a beach “must have”
With an even tan, our body loses moisture. You can forget about food, but you should have a bottle of clean drinking water with you. You should not take juices, homemade compotes, beer, cider. These drinks do not establish a water balance and quickly deteriorate in the heat. You can add ice cubes, ginger, mint, tarragon or basil leaves to the water for flavor.
Fresh vegetables:
This is the healthiest summer food! Juicy cucumbers, radishes, bell peppers, carrots, celery stalks, lettuce, arugula, and any greens are suitable. They contain a large amount of liquid, and when you eat them, you don’t feel heavy in the stomach.
Wash the vegetables beforehand, dry them, but take them with you whole, not in the form of a salad.
You can pre-cook vegetables on the grill (zucchini, eggplant, onions, mushrooms with rosemary stem and ground pepper).
Fruits and seasonal berries:
Fragrant peaches, apricots, pears and apples make your vacation truly memorable! Watch the appearance of the fruit so that the skin is not damaged during transportation. Berries can be put in a plastic box with ice.
And the safest option for a sweet snack is dried fruit, figs, raisins, or sugar-free fruit pastille.
Breads, cookies and nuts:
Want something dense? Bring cereal breads, unleavened pita bread, or homemade oatmeal cookies. Nuts (almonds or cashews) can also be included in a nutritious snack.
Under the ban:
The risk group includes perishable foods such as sausage, eggs, pastry with cream, sandwiches with butter, cheese and sweet cheeses. These foods can cause serious food poisoning in children and adults!
As a picnic basket, it is better to choose a thermal bag with cold storage. But even this option is not intended for long-term storage of food at high summer temperatures!
